The Kids from the Greatest Secret Agents Become Spies.
As one of the lead VFX partners on Spy Kids: Armageddon, DNEG delivered 216 VFX shots and over 270 motion graphics shots across three sequences, contributing to the film’s highly stylized and playful visual language.
A key creative goal was to make audiences feel as if they were inside a video game, rather than simply watching one. The team developed multiple graphical languages to support different characters and organizations—from the sleek spy technology of the OSS to the fantasy-inspired game world of the King’s Lair. The latter drew heavily from ancient Mesoamerican art, influencing the design of game interfaces, holographic weapons, branding, and computer UI.
Notable work included skeleton animations, AR bots, the Heck Knight, the VR Room, the Central Computer Room, Armageddon watch holograms, the King’s Console and Terminal Room holographic maps, and the OSS “Super Ducky”—a vehicle that transforms from boat to plane.
